Hello and Welcome to BelongSpace.

I’m glad you’re here.

My name is Farzana Zaman. I am a Registered Social Worker. My path into this work has been shaped by both lived experience and over 16 years of clinical practice in community mental health, primary care, post-secondary counselling, and private practice.

I was born and raised in Bangladesh and have lived across South Asia, Europe, and North America. Canada, my adopted and beloved home, has become what I lovingly call my "new birthplace of beingness": a place where identity, healing, and purpose continue to unfold.

My own journey of migration has taught me that belonging is not something we arrive at once, but something we cultivate over time within ourselves and in relationship with others. This belief lives at the heart of my work. It continues to guide my ongoing journey of holding my ancestral teachings, traditions, and values alongside those of my chosen homeland, honouring both with care and intention.

Today, I support individuals, couples, and partners in relationships,  parents or adult family members navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, attachment wounds, intimacy barriers, identity transitions, and life’s many turning points. My work is relational, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and grounded in evidence-informed practices, including CBT, DBT-informed strategies, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Developmental Model of Relationship work, Mindful Self-Compassion-based therapies, and mindfulness-based practices.

Having lived across cultures and identities, I hold deep respect for how culture, race, language, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, and socioeconomic context shape our physical and emotional health, our relationships, how we parent and care for children or aging family members, and how we connect with friends, community, and our planet Earth. It is a profound privilege to witness and hold the stories entrusted to me.

BelongSpace is created as a therapeutic home rooted in presence, humanity, and the belief that everyone deserves meaningful, nurturing connections. This work unfolds on the lands of Ontario, home to many Indigenous peoples whose care for this land long predates our arrival. I hold deep respect for their histories, stories, and stewardship.

Thank you for arriving at BelongSpace.

Our paths have met here for a reason.

Outside of The Therapy Room

What grounds me most are the relationships and practices that bring me back to presence. I value meaningful time with my children, family, and friends, where connection feels simple and genuine.

I see myself as a reflective therapist, someone who actively practices the same tools I offer to clients. This ongoing self-awareness allows me to show up with authenticity, humility, and care.

Spending time in nature, such as through walking, hiking, or quiet moments outdoors, helps me reconnect and restore balance.

At home, our Bengal cat, Atticus, brings a sense of calm and joy, reminding me of the importance of Gentle Presence and the Power of Love.

I also deeply value food as a form of connection, whether through shared meals, cultural traditions, or exploring global cuisines.

If this feels like a place where you could belong, I invite you to reach out here.
